Charlotte A Sport Lover's Dream
Unable to be denied, Charlotte can be viewed as a destination city. While our flourishing business world might bring new locals, sports keep them entertained. Here are a list of the teams we root for:
Carolina Panthers - NFL In the 2014-15 season, the Carolina Panthers celebrated 20 years of being an NFL Franchise. Of those seasons, they have proudly made the playoffs in '96, '03 (Super Bowl Year), '05, '08, '13, and '14. They became the first ever team from the NFC South division to win back-to-back division championships in '13 and '14. These games are a spectacle to go to, as you'll see nothing but Black and Blue waving throughout Charlotte on game days.
After the '01-'02 season, every Charlottean's worst nightmare happened. The Charlotte Hornets were relocated to New Orleans. This left Charlotte without an NBA team for the next two years. The NBA allowed Charlotte to house the Bobcats name from '04 to '14, but the atmosphere wasn't quite the same. Thankfully, the BUZZ is back! For the '14-'15 season, the Bobcats did a complete rebranding back into the Hornets name. Keeping with the puns, they have nicknamed this arena The Hive.
Despite being named the Charlotte Knights, up until 2013, this Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, played their games down in Fort Mill, SC. In 2014, the city opened up a brand new stadium in the heart of downtown Charlotte. With the outfield overlooking the cityscape, this scene brought a renewed interest in the team. Throughout the week, you will find a packed house, with business professionals simply walking over after they clock out.
